6 This story is in the works. Saints o' the Day include Maria Goretti, Monenna, Newlyn, Sexburga, and Godeliva. *** Ned Beatty turns 65 (1937, Lexington, KY) today; Merv Griffin, 77 (1925, San Mateo, CA); Della Reese, 70 (1932, Detroit); and Batman's little buddy, Burt Ward, 57 (1945, Los Angeles).
On July 6, 1885, Louis Pasteur gave the first rabies innoculation to a boy who had been bitten by a rabid dog. The boy survived. I found one site on line, however, that insists that the dog did, too, which indicates that the dog wasn't rabid after all. And was it really the first rabies innoculation or was it the first that old Louis wanted to talk about? I have had serious questions about these early researchers ever since I found out about Edward Jenner. |
